this + that = 12 dates of christmas 2011 recap

I previously posted on here when we started a special Christmas tradition last year called “The 12 Dates of Christmas” inspired by Naomi from Rockstar Diaries. Martin and I thought of these small dates during the Christmas Holidays. They helped us to enjoy our first Christmas as an engaged couple and think of how to spend quality time together amidst the chaotic schedule we both had…no date was too simple because it was about the quality time! We both wrote 6 dates each on pieces of paper and sealed them up in envelopes. It was exciting to wake up each morning and reveal our date for the day. Here’s a recap of what we shared together last year….

1.Had mulled wine and pretzels at the Vancouver Christmas Market (posted here)
2.Shared some Starbucks Holiday drinks (posted here)
3.Watched the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir Christmas performance
4.Saw the Mission Impossible movie
5.Ordered Indian food to go and stayed in to decorate our Christmas tree
6.Saw another movie – Sherlock Homes…great minds think a-like
7.Strolled along the Jewel Box of Lights at the Vancouver Bloedel Conservatory
8.Cozied up with hot cocoa to walked around the Festival of Lights at the Van Deuzen Garden Light show…definitely want to go here annually! Make sure you buy the tickets online because the line up was ridiculous. We managed to bi-pass it using our online tickets.
9.Cheered for the Canucks from seats at the Grill Pub at Rogers Arena and had delish prime ribs and bevies..best seats EVER!
10.Stayed in with our friends Haagen, Ben & Jerry to watch Love Actually
11.Wrapped gifts together using recyclable materials like old magazines and played Christmas music all day
12.Celebrated Christmas with my family since Filipinos celebrate on Christmas Eve

Some of these dates might be a bit out of order but I hope this helps you for some ideas if you want to join us this year!

We’re looking forward to this year’s “12 dates of Christmas” since it will be the first shared as a married couple!! Some of the dates we thought of last year were so memorable that I have a feeling they will be repeated every year.

Got any other ideas for this year’s “12 dates of Christmas“? Let me know – I’m all ears.

here + there = on the second “date” of Christmas…

...we had a coffee date at Starbucks! It was my turn to surprise Mairt but he had a meeting until 9:00pm so I had to think of something quick and easy. We walked Maki & Sashi to the local Starbucks TOGETHER! It was nice to make the extra effort to spend quality time together even with our hectic schedules.

His drink : peppermint hot chocolate with whip cream and chocolate sprinkles

Her drink: soy gingerbread latte and no whip...I just realized they forgot the nutmeg! I usually ask for that too.

xoxo
